Interval Training – Thursday June 28, 2012

[important]Club members are reminded that the weeks ahead bring with them a number of events in which they might consider participating. And if their boat is simply not to be floated by middle-distance running, there is of course the annual Barnes Runners barbecue… at which they may also seek to distinguish themselves. Deadlines, as always, are fast approaching. Decisions need to be made, action needs to be taken. And swiftly.[/important]

In view of the significant numbers of club members who are competing in this Friday’s Wedding Day 7K in Bushy Park, this week’s interval training will feature two programmes: a recovery/preparatory run for WD 7K contenders and a more rigourous programme for hardened smokers and proponents of fiscal reform..
Programme courgette:

  1. 1200 m (3 laps) warm-up
  2. 400 m of dynamic stretching / bottom-kicking
  3. 1600 m (4 laps) at your 5K pace
  4. 200 m (half lap) recovery run
  5. Execute steps 3 and 4 a total of 5 (five) times
  6. 1600 m (4 laps) warm-down

Programme zucchini:

  1. 1200 m (3 laps) warm-up
  2. 400 m of dynamic stretching / bottom-kicking
  3. 2000 m (5 laps) at your most insouciant and nonchalant pace
  4. 1600 m (4 laps) warm-down
