Interval Training – Thursday 21 March 2013

For one week – and one week only – the Barnes Runners committee would like to paraphrase the key budget points of the Right Honourable Member of Parliament for Tatton:

“Please stick with us, despite the gloom”.

This Thursday marks the last of this season’s famously horrible, reassuringly unpleasant and unutterably gloomy “three by twos”.
For the third and last time, therefore, spring marathon contenders and recreational runners alike will be invited to complete 3 reps of 2 miles (8 laps).
The programme looks like this:

  1. Jog from Rose House to the track
  2. 1 lap of dynamic stretching, allpassian bottom-kicking, Harman lunges, etc.
  3. 3.2 km (8 laps) at your 5K pace
  4. 0.4 km (1 lap) recovery run. I will know if you walk.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have completed a maximum of 3 reps.
  6. 1.6 km (4 laps) warm down
